Run, Don’t Walk, To Buy This Book

If you haven’t yet read The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss, hop on over to Amazon.com and buy it now. (You can purchase a used copy for as little as $10.) Published in 2007, I read the book last summer and couldn’t put it down, mostly because it was so thought-provoking.

This book forced me to really think about how I spend my time. Even though I’m trained as a coach and am always talking to my clients about their use of time, the concept of Gold Time, and asking “What’s the most important thing for you to be doing right now?” both the subtle and not-so-subtle reminders in this book hit home for me. Have you become a slave to your email? How much time do you spend on the internet and where does it get you?

Though nowhere hear retirement age, Mr. Ferriss challenges the way Americans think about retirement.  In lieu of working one’s whole life to then retire at age 65, Tim Ferriss touts the concept of mini-retirements throughout one’s life. Very interesting.

If you’d like a bit of inspiration and motivation, and if you’re up for something that will really make you step back and think about your life, read this book.
